Section 01 · About Jump Start Service

What jump start service actually looks like

Jump starts are the single most common roadside call we run. Cold morning, lights left on, weak battery on a hot day, it happens. We arrive with a portable jump pack, hook up safely, and get you running. Most calls finish in under 15 minutes on scene.

  • Portable jump packs (no need for a second running vehicle).
  • Safe hookup that protects your alternator and ECU.
  • If the battery is fully dead, we can tow you to AutoZone, O'Reilly, or your shop.
  • Flat service fee, lower than a tow.
  • Available 24/7.

Section 04 · Battery or charging system

A jump that holds, and a jump that doesn't

A jump start gets you running. It does not tell you why the car died, and that is the part worth understanding, because the answer changes what you should do next.

If it starts and keeps running, it was the battery. A healthy charging system reads roughly 13.7 to 14.7 volts with the engine going. We check it before we leave. If the voltage sits down near 12 with the engine running, the alternator is not keeping up, and the jump has only bought you the drive home. Head straight to a shop rather than switching the engine off somewhere inconvenient.

Heat is what kills batteries here, not cold. Everyone blames winter mornings, but Sacramento summers do far more damage. A battery past three or four years that has gone flat once will almost always do it again. Replacing it beats collecting jump starts.

If it goes flat overnight, repeatedly, something is staying awake. A boot light, an aftermarket alarm, a bad relay. That is a parasitic drain and it needs diagnosing, not jumping.

Two things worth knowing. Cars with automatic stop-start use AGM or EFB batteries, so replacement is not a generic swap and the wrong battery will fail early. And a short drive afterwards will not recharge a deeply flat battery. It needs a decent run or a proper charger.

If it will not take a jump at all, we are not going to stand there guessing. We tow you to your shop or a parts store and you get on with your day.
